Call The Dave Bowman Show
Dave Bowman, is a radio talk show host, father, baseball fan, football fan, avid reader and a frustrated writer. He has a passion for coffee and for tequila, and is a ToTaL Star Trek and Big Bang Theory geek.
He was born in Oklahoma, grew up in Colorado, attended Pueblo South High School for two years and then graduated from Ogden High School in Ogden, UT, served for eleven years in the US Navy Submarine fleet, was a Naval Instructor and Ballistic Missile Fire Control Technician, achieving the rank of FTB1(SS) through sorcery and favoritism but would have been happy staying an FTB2(SS) for life. He later attended Seminary in Atlanta, GA, then served as a pastor for five years before realizing the massive error of his ways.
He then worked in non-Profit management until 2006 when he was hired to do sports for a local talk radio show, eventually moving into the host position in September of 2007.
In 2008 Dave converted to Judaism.
He is heard each weekday from 3pm to 6pm (Pacific) on KFIV 1360AM in Modesto and everywhere via the iHeart Radio Application.
On Monday at 5:30pm (Eastern Standard Time), the US Senate will hold a confirmation vote for Patricia Millet to take a seat on the DC Circuit Court. She is controversial and she is also THE reason that Harry Reid used the nuclear option, and now, thanks to that use, she will be "confirmed" to the Bench, giving the resident and the Democrat Party an decided advantage in the Court that ruled against the resident on his recess appointment of NLRB Members unconstitutional. That won't happen again, will it? When it comes to their agenda (currently the Court is 4-4 GOP v DEM with three Obama nominations pending, Patricia Millet, Robert Wilkins and Cornelia Pillard). The fallout of the Reid's and Obama's Senate's move has begun. Even IF the GOP "takes the Senate" in 2014, which seems like very long odds today, the Judge is seated. What's the plan to undo that? Remember, the GOP has already said that IF they win they will undo the rule change. This is more damaging to the deals of republican (little "r" not the party) government than anything else that has happened to date.
Apparently the roadblock for a 2016 Rand Paul run at the White House is in his own home - his wife - who isn't too keen on the "character assassination" that takes place in a campaign.
Things have reached the point where leftists now claim that G-d is n their side when it comes to Obamacare, and that He (G-d), "supports" the law. First off, I am willing to best that IF G-d wanted to let us know how He feels about a political issue, I'm pretty sure that He would not do it through Ed Shultz. Secondly, I don't believe that G-d is a socialist either.
The Washington State Insurance Commissioner says that the Obamacare (he loves that name!) "fix" of the President "allowing" you to keep your plan, won't work. Of course it won't "work". It was never intended to "work," it was to allow the President to look like he was trying to do something about an easily foreseen consequence of his signature law. Instead of assuming any responsibility, the "fix" shifted the blame away from him. So I guess in the arena of PR it "worked" since some people are stupid enough to believe him.
Releasing only the data that supports your narrative is bad form. It's also "Business as Usual" for the Administration. In this case, cherry picking data to show that the implementation of the Obamacare (he loves that name!) law is going great!
What a surprise, right? The President "promised" not to take donations from "foreign interests," so they found a way around it so that he could and did.
Last month it came to light that the vaunted "Jerry Brown Memorial Water Tubes" need another $1.2 Billion... for planning.
For whatever reason, would have thought that there were far more than a mere 45,000 millionaire households in California.
Occasionally I come across a story that just needs to be shared. There really isn't much to say about it, other than to remind us of our place in things and how important each of our lives is and how much we need to have family and friends. Los Angeles County just buried the remains of more than 1400 people who were never claimed.
Okay, people of Stockton, I get it it. Your Mayor is charismatic, entertaining, handsome and full of crap. You love that about him, and while it provides hours of entertainment and conversational buffalo for me, it's hardly the mark of competent leadership, which is what you actually need at this time. This is the same guy who promised not to take his salary, then did. Then promised to donate some of it to charity (his own), and didn't. He is not a man given to keeping his word, and his actions in the recent City Manager debacle are clear demonstrations of absolute incompetence.
That's fine, after all, you picked him and the other leaders of Stockton. And that is important to remember. Either through your indifference or your action, you chose the leaders who have brought you to this point. You failed to hold any of them accountable, and so what has happened to your wonderful City is in reality, your fault.
Which is why showing up to boo the City Council as they admonish the Mayor for breaking a rule, is a little... well... stupid. You don't need a Mayor who is more interested in hiring the right COLOR City Manager than in hiring the right MANAGER for City Manager. And when the truth came out on the guy the mayor was willing to break the rules to try and force the Council to hire for the job, it was quickly clear that the Mayor was 100% absolutely not-unexpectedly given his reputation and apparent qualities, wrong. And now you boo the Council for doing what the are required to do for both competent and proper government?
I almost get the feeling that the hundred people who showed up to complain about Mayor Silva's "punishment" don't see what has happened to Stockton as in any way their fault or problem. Almost as if it's some sort of administrative issue that doesn't effect them so why is the Council picking on the Mayor?
Well, like I said, whether you want to admit it or not, the issues in Stockton are the fault of every resident and voter who either did or did not show up to vote, who failed to hold leaders accountable for actions and for not getting involved before last night, after the Mayor broke the rules and tried to hire a walking harassment suit for the sole reason that he had the "right" skin color."
This isn't 1947. Managers and City Leaders should be selected on the basis of their abilities and on their character. If any other selection criteria is used, you get what has happened to you.
And it's your own fault.
I had a wonderful time last night, first at the first public lighting of the Modesto Menorah. It was a very good event, and it was nice to meet listeners who came down to be a part of the lighting. Then I went to Turlock to speak to the Princeton Division of the Sea Cadets about (what else?) submarines! It was awesome to see young kids interested in the Navy and in learning about being good young people. Bravo Zulu to the the Commander and Guns for doing an amazing job on shoestring budget. Like the Chief said, it's about the kids, that's why they do it. And they are doing a fantastic job!
In case you missed it (and you did), Republican (cough, cough) Chris Christie has "emerged as the early favorite" which would be funny IF there was actually any chance that California would vote for Christie of Hillary Rodham in the first place. Which there isn't.
The California GOP has finally grown a pair. Last August they announced that they would be launching their own "Obamacare" website to further annoy and piss off the Democrats. Now they (TLGLT) have started sending out mailers directing people to their fake website. Democrats and the LA Times are displeased.
Truth: The Detroit bankruptcy and the rulings yesterday have California Public Service Unions as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
I wanted to share this story from the Kitsap Sun with you today, as we celebrate the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah, a season for miracles and joy.
I'm not going to tell you that Mike and I were the closest of friends on USS Michigan, because we weren't. We worked in different departments and different watch schedules, but our paths were similar in that we arrived around the same time and went through our quals and experiences around the same period. And for the record, I had nothing to do whatsoever with this) After we left the Michigan, I got out, Mike stayed in the Navy.
There's a lot of nonsense about the issues with Facebook, but for my part the biggest joy of it has been reconnecting with my shipmates from USS Michigan, tempered with learning of the sadness of life that has befallen many of us along the way. When I reconnected with Mike he was very ill, and frankly not expected to make it. Today, he is disease free and looking forward to returning to work.
Not that you asked, but here is the link to Be The Match, where you can sign up to be a potential donor and perhaps save a life. It's easy and painless to register.
